How to Maximize Fuel Efficiency in Your Ford Vehicle

Getting the most out of every tank of gas is a priority for daily commutes and weekend road trips alike. Ford vehicles feature highly efficient designs, but drivers can take additional steps to stretch their fuel further. At Silver Spring Ford in Silver Spring, MD, we want to help you get the most out of your vehicle. Contact our team today for more information on optimizing your daily drive. more Keep Up With Routine Maintenance Staying current with scheduled maintenance offers a simple way to maximize fuel efficiency. Dirty air filters, old spark plugs, and low tire pressure quietly reduce fuel economy over time. Following the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual keeps the engine running at its best. Fresh oil, properly inflated tires, and clean filters give the powertrain less resistance on every drive. Watch How You Drive Driving habits significantly impact fuel use. Aggressive acceleration and hard braking burn fuel quickly. Accelerate gradually and coast to a stop when traffic allows. Maintaining a steady highway speed instead of constantly speeding up and slowing down makes a noticeable difference. Available Ford Co-Pilot360 technology features like adaptive cruise control help drivers hold a consistent pace. Reduce Unnecessary Weight and Drag Carrying extra weight in a truck bed or cargo area forces the engine to work harder. Remove tools and gear you do not regularly use. Roof racks and cargo carriers create wind resistance. Taking them off when not in use improves aerodynamics. These small changes add up for drivers sitting in stop-and-go traffic. Use Technology Wisely Modern Ford models include tools to help you drive smarter. Connected navigation finds the most efficient routes to your destination. Using the trip computer or the FordPass app to monitor real-time fuel consumption helps you understand your driving patterns and make necessary adjustments. Consider a Hybrid or Electric Option Buyers wanting to maximize efficiency from the ground up should explore the Ford hybrid and electric lineup. Models like the Ford Escape Hybrid and Mustang Mach-E significantly reduce fuel consumption compared to traditional gas-powered vehicles. You can view our inventory to explore available options before visiting the dealership. Maximize Fuel Efficiency Every Day Building better habits takes very little effort once they become routine. Combining regular maintenance, smoother driving, reduced cargo load, and smart technology use creates a solid strategy to improve fuel economy. Drivers visiting Koons Ford in Silver Spring, MD can put these tips to work right away and notice a real difference at the pump.

4 Reasons to Love the 2025 Ford Bronco

Drivers who are ready for adventure will adore the 2025 Ford Bronco, which is a classic in Ford's lineup. From day one, this vehicle has been used to explore the world and have some fun, and it can still do that today while being a great everyday car, too. 1. It Has Four Fantastic Suspension Options The Bronco is designed to handle the trails with ease, so there are four high-performance off-road stability suspensions available. First, there's a HOSS 1.0 system that's ideal for high-speed trail adventures. It has heavy-duty dampers in the front and rear, a 220-millimeter solid rear axle with non-travel, variable-rate coil-over springs, twin forged alloy-A arms, and a passive damping system. There are three more HOSS systems, numbered as 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0. Systems with a higher number can handle more treacherous conditions than those with a lower one. The toughest of all, which is the Bronco Raptor HOSS 4.0 Suspension System, has features that include integrated front reservoirs, remote rear reservoir, 3.1 internal bypass semi-active dampers, and FOX live-valve technology that has position-sensitive damping. more 2. It Lets You Get Plenty of Fresh Air Traverse the trails with the top down or, to be more in touch with nature, with the top down and the doors taken off. You can get the vehicle with a soft top or hardtop, the base trim can be configured with either one. You need a 4-door model for a black cloth soft top or a classic mesh Bimini soft top. You need a 2-door model for a carbonized gray molded-in-color hardtop. The soft top lets you remove the rear panel while keeping a roof over the items in the cargo area, or you can put the top fully down for a more open-air feel. 3. It Lets You Transport A Lot Of Gear Your Bronco lets you have the best outdoor experience possible by having room for you to bring lots of gear along for the ride. The interior has enough space to store all of your doors, and there are available storage bags for you to place them in. If you're not storing your doors in the car, then you've got 83 cubic feet of cargo space to use for adventure gear when you fall down the second row seats in soft top models. Hardtop models have enough room for 77.2 cubic feet of cargo. 4. It Has Drains The Bronco has rubberized floor mats with drain plugs, so you can grab a hose and wash down the interior after a messy adventure without worrying about where the water will go. There are marine-grade vinyl seats available to help resist mildew. How many of these reasons make you want to test drive the Bronco? Come see it in person today at our dealership, Koons Ford Silver Spring in Silver Spring, MD.

check engine light 5

What to Do If Your Check Engine Light Comes On

The check engine light comes on when sensors detect something that affects engine performance. As time passes, parts wear due to age or damage, leading to engine problems and potentially serious damage. As your Ford dealer in Silver Spring, MD, we'd like you to know some reasons you need to visit us for Ford maintenance. Ford Maintenance: Possible Reasons the Check Engine Light Comes On Blocked Catalytic Converter The catalytic converter is a vital part of the exhaust system. Combustion produces numerous dangerous, toxic gases, and the converter changes these gases into harmless ones before they exit the tailpipe. The conversion process uses immense pressure, chemical reactions, and intense heat, producing carbon as a byproduct. Carbon can build up inside the converter and block the exit to the exhaust system. A blockage forces the gases back into the engine. Their arrival increases pressure inside the engine, which can cause it to shut down without warning. A blocked converter can also cause your engine to fail within seconds of starting. We'll clear the blockage to fix this issue. more Worn Spark Plugs A spark plug screws into each engine cylinder and provides the ignition source for the cylinder contents. Air and fuel mix in a precise ratio in the intake manifold and are drawn into the cylinders. The cylinders close, and the pistons move upward at high speed to compress the fuel-air mixture. Once the mixture is sufficiently compressed, a spark plug ignites it to produce compression. Spark plugs wear out over time and can be damaged by issues like worn ignition coils or a fuel-rich engine. A damaged spark plug won't ignite its cylinder contents successfully, causing a misfire. Engine sensors will detect the misfire and its cause and inform your computer, causing the engine light to come on. We'll test the plugs and replace any damaged ones to fix this problem. Damaged Mass Airflow Sensor (MAS) The MAS monitors airflow into the engine and sends this information to the computer. The computer then determines how much fuel must be added to the mixture for successful combustion. A MAS can be damaged by an oil leak, water, or dirt, and it can also wear out over time. A worn or damaged MAS prevents the computer from accurately calculating how much air is in the engine. Without information from the MAS, your computer has to guess. If too much air is added, the fuel-air mixture will be lean, causing rough idling, reduced acceleration, and decreased engine power. If insufficient air is added, the mixture becomes fuel-rich, causing misfiring, damage to the spark plugs, and increased fuel usage. All these issues will trigger the engine light. We'll repair or replace the MAS, and your engine will work normally. Contact our service department today at Koons Ford Silver Spring in Silver Spring, MD.
